Artist's Comments

This is my interpretation of the Green Martian Warlord from Edgar Rice Burroughs book "A Princess of Mars". Design is based upon Michael Whelan's cover art.

Brilliant! The detail on this is just.. amazing.
I'm rereading A Princess of Mars for the first time since I was nine and am captivated all over again.

Wow! Thank you for the kind words Rebekah and the add -- I greatly appreciate it.

Tars Tarkas was a fun piece to make - So fun I decided to make him again in a diorama with John Carter and Dejah Thoris.

I'm glad to hear you're havign fun with A Princess of Mars. You know they're going to be making a movie of it in a couple of years....

BTW -- I saw that you like CJ Cherryh. I'm going to be making a piece from her book "Faded Sun" in the next couple of months.

Take care and thanks again!

Faded sun was a good read. My favorite is her Morgaine trilogy, though.
I did hear the noise about the Princess of Mars movie.. Ehren Kruger was supposed to write the script, but all of the news I can find about it is outdated--they were shooting for a 2006 release date.. hmmm.

Never read the books, but know the stories and had a couple of issues of the Marvel comics. It is a classical rendition, no doubt about it. I love the detail.

The book is fantastic and so is the piece :D
